What Is Mercatus, Inc. All About?

Mercatus, Inc. was founded in 1991.  Our efforts were initially focused on the execution of sophisticated analytical projects.  Mercatus performed virtually all of MCI Telecommunications’ efforts in predictive modeling, advanced segmentation techniques and strategic market targeting during the 1990's.  These efforts were directly attributable to the growth in MCI's market share of the domestic long-distance market by more than 100% during that time period.  During and after that period, our analytical expertise has benefited numerous other clients in the telecommunications, financial and direct marketing (catalog and e-commerce) industries.

We have designed and built numerous marketing databases and data warehouses.  One recent database effort has resulted in a single-year savings of over $700,000 to a client in the form of reduced direct mail processing and catalog printing and mailing costs.

Predictive models that Mercatus has built for a leading provider of marketing and management services are allowing this client to optimize their offerings of mail campaign planning, execution and tracking services to their own extensive client-base.

Mercatus has created systems and executed analytical projects that have permitted major catalog marketers to target their marketing activities much more effectively - integrating their direct mail offerings with their retail stores and web-based marketing efforts.  These efforts have provided insight into customer characteristics and behavior that has greatly enhanced this client’s marketing effectiveness and focus.
